Volunteers are the heart of The Heritage Ranch. Whether you enjoy history, education, gardening, working with your hands, or connecting with the community, there is a meaningful place for you here.

By sharing your time and talents, you’ll help preserve local history, inspire future generations, and create memorable experiences for thousands of visitors each year. Whether you can volunteer weekly, monthly, or just for special events, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

School Field Trips

Help bring history to life for local students through our hands-on educational programs.

​

Volunteers assist with interactive learning stations such as:

• Butter making and pioneer life

• Native American storytelling and sand painting

• Historic building tours

• Welcoming and guiding school groups

• ​

Field trips are typically held on weekday mornings during the school year. Training is provided, and no teaching experience is required—just a friendly attitude and a love of learning.

​

Museum Guides & Docents

Share the fascinating stories of our region with visitors as they explore the Museum, historic Teten House, and outdoor exhibits.

Museum guides help answer questions, lead tours, and create a welcoming experience for guests. Volunteers can serve as little as two afternoons each month.

​

Training is provided.

Gardening & Landscape Care

Help care for the beautiful Heritage Ranch campus by assisting with native landscaping, seasonal planting, garden maintenance, and outdoor beautification projects.

​

Perfect for anyone who enjoys working outdoors and helping preserve this unique historic property.

​

Historic Preservation & Maintenance

From repairing fences and historic structures to building new educational displays and helping maintain exhibits, skilled volunteers play an important role in keeping our Living Heritage Campus beautiful, safe, and welcoming for the community.

Whether you’re handy with tools or simply willing to lend a helping hand, your time makes a lasting impact.

Community Events

Throughout the year, The Heritage Ranch hosts festivals, family days, educational programs, fundraisers, and seasonal celebrations.

Event volunteers help with:

• Set-up and decorating

• Greeting guests

• Children’s activities

• Parking and hospitality

• Clean-up

• General event support

Youth Volunteer Opportunities

​

Young Historians Training Program

For youth who have a passion for history, education, and public speaking, our Young Historians program provides hands-on training to become future museum interpreters.

​

Participants learn about local history, historic buildings, storytelling techniques, and visitor engagement while building confidence, leadership skills, and community service experience.

​

As they grow, Young Historians have opportunities to assist with tours, educational programs, and special events alongside experienced volunteers. This is a free community program.

​

Rising Ranchers Leadership Program

​

Our Rising Ranchers program is designed for youth ages 10 and up who want to develop leadership skills while giving back to their community.

​

Participants help care for the farmyard, mentor younger children during educational programs, assist with community events, support nonprofit partners, and learn responsibility through meaningful service.

​

More than just volunteering, Rising Ranchers builds confidence, compassion, teamwork, communication skills, and a strong sense of community.

​

Many participants continue growing into leadership roles throughout the Heritage Ranch campus, making a lasting difference while creating friendships and unforgettable experiences.
